Determine Your Faucet Type
Sink faucets are of four types – cartridge, compression, ball type and ceramic disk. You should be able to classify your sink faucet under any one of the types mentioned above, to carry on with the sink faucet repair job with ease. Of all types, compression faucets have rubber washers which secure the valve. Since these washers wear out easily, they need to be replaced. All other types do not have a rubber washer, but are likely to develop leaks after being used for a while. You will have to either replace the entire assembly or just the O ring in these faucets.
